5 Ingredient Creamy Gruyère Polenta
This creamy gruyere polenta pairs beautifully with roasted chicken or steak night! A similar texture to mashed potatoes, leaves this corn-based dish a hearty, creamy, side dish that is perfect for sauce meats. It comes together in just one pot on the stove and be sure to top with plenty of extra gruyere cheese before serving.
Ingredients
| 1 cup | polenta |
| 1 jar | alfredo sauce |
| 4 ½ cups | water |
| 2 tbsp | unsalted butter |
| ¼ tsp | kosher salt |
| ½ cup | Le Gruyere AOP cheese, shredded |
Instructions
- Bring water and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add polenta slowly into the boiling water, whisking until smooth.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer, whisking often, until the polenta beings to thicken, about 5-7 minutes or so.
- Cover the polenta and cook for 25 minutes, uncovering and whisking every 5 minutes or so. The polenta is finished cooking when it has thickened, is bright yellow in color and the grains are tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in butter until mostly melted. Add in gruyere cheese and stir until the cheese has melted.
- Transfer polenta to serving dishes and grate a bit more gruyere cheese on top and a few turns of cracked black pepper if desired.
